Marine Product Reviews recently checked out an innovative new product called Muggi. The Muggi is a lightweight foam cup and mug holder that is the inspiration of yachtsman and entrepreneur David “Trotski” Trotter. The Muggi is elegant in its simplicity and is a product that belongs in every galley.
I brought the Muggi with me on a recent charter in the BVI. I figured that this would be a good testing ground as I typically like to have my morning coffee while underway – I also bring my own French press and ground coffee as coffee onboard is serious business. A few years ago while just underway, we were hit by a series of swells that sent the coffee (and lots of other stuff) flying. Coffee spilled, a mug broke and there was plenty of cursing.

We found the Muggi to be a stable and skid resistant holder for coffee mugs on deck as well as a stable platform for holding mugs while pouring. It also proved to be a great holder for mugs while in the cabinet and it also fit perfectly in the galley sink and kept the dirty mugs from clanking about until we were able to wash them.The Muggi also serves as a handy carrying tray that let’s you easily and safely take up to four drinks from the galley to the cockpit, leaving you the other hand free to steady yourself. The importance of this can’t be underestimated.
The Muggi was used through out the day and held mugs, cups and even cans.
